With a big thanks to Mike (Blade48mrd) I was able to get cracking on my King Tiger Dio once again. The missing roadwheel was provided by Mike and fit like a charm. Just needs a shot of paint some weathering and its off to the races. I had a couple of buildings that I was initially going to use, but ended up mixing a couple of them instead for the final result. The building is a solid multi piece resin casting by Kirin. The box says Polish Building, but it looks like any other european building that I can think of and its definately different. The fit wasn't all that great in a couple of spots and the pour plugs were huge! Luckily I have a multi station belt/bed sander and a band saw that made short work of the resin pour plugs! The base came from a long out of production DCS kit (Predates Verlinden) The roadway is a type of plastic I'm not familiar with. It had been cracked and reglued in several places, and it was too small for my KT to sit on fully. What to do? Apoxy and Miliput to the rescue! All if the dark gray and white areas are Apoxy and Miliput. I laid out a nice bed of the stuff and used the end of a square piece of brass to inlay my cobblestones. The putty isnt perfectly smooth, but then again, neither is a cobblestone road, so the effect was great. A little dinging here and there with some tools effectively distressed the stones to match their counterparts. The pink stuff is styrofoam that will be the bedrock for the ground work which is still to come. Comments, questions, suggestions always welcome. "Q"

Nice Kt and the scene, i have one critic althought, you didnt mention the "scene story" but it looks to me like a Kt just entering the street, if thats it, why are all the hatches opened?

Red4 -

Glad to have been able to help even in a small way to such an outstanding looking build. Your King Tiger "unit" markings look to represent Kampfgruppe Peiper / 1 SS Panzer Division and would therefore be s.SS-Pz.Abt. 501 (if to be in Ardennes). These KT's also had a letter "G" in black paint on the front hull, just below and between mg & light (to assist in "trafficing"). I think the tracks are excellent, but was wondering why (other than to better show the tracks) you left off the side and rear fenders. Maybe have the fenders with a couple panels missing? Just a thought. Anxious to see the progress of the diorama as it looks like it is tracking well. Need some Verlinden or Warriors figures to add? I'm got quite a "stash" of extras.

That looks like its going to build into a great late war scene Matthew, can't wait to see the finish dio.
That building looks great and really fits in well, looks like one of the many shots from in and around Vienna 1945 already.

The hatches are open as I havent added the figures as yet. The scene will be of the crew just relaxing on the vehicle, no action other than just "Chilling". THe markings are inded for the 501st, but I goofed in adding the ambush scheme and the zimmeritt. The 501st will be painted over. The vehicle will then be one from the 503rd. I do indeed need to add the fenders back on, but I'll be covering up all that cool looking metal track I really appreciate the feedback guys. I have made a little more progress on it as well. Adding debris to the street and at the base of the building. More pics to follow soon. Thanks again. "Q"

Wow, this diorama is looking really good. I love that resin building by Kirin ! Is that OOP ? You did a fantastic job on that cobblestone street as well.

The setting on this is perfect.

Can't wait to see you progress with this !

Outstanding work so far !

Cheers !!

Thanks guys. I'm not sure if the building is OOP at this time, but I have never even seen this until I acquired it in an estate sale, so your guess is as good as mine. I havent been able to get any more done lately due to work....arrrgh but hopefully I'll be able to chisel away at it here and there and get some more pics of my progress. Thanks again. "Q"
