I just bought a Revell M60 tank 1:35 scale and I was just wondering how I should paint the camouflage pattern on. Should I paint the body first without assembling everything or assemble everything and paint over details. This is my first Camo paint job. I would do the Camo with an airbrush. I just don't want to paint over the wheels and other accessories. How has any one done it in the past? Tips?

When we painted the real M60A3 tanks, a crew came through and painted the entire tank green. Then the NCOs chalked off the 3-color pattern. Next crew came through and painted the brown, and then the black. The sides of the hull stayed green below the fenders. The road wheels, idlers and sprockets stayed green as well, but I recall one crew painting the road wheels on their tank in alternating colors. Just to be different.

When I've painted a camouflage pattern, I would leave of all pieces that aren't painted. IE: tools, machineguns, fuel cans, etc.

BTW, if you want I've got the actual US army manual for the merdec 4 color camouflage scheme. If you like I can scan them and email them to you. Just PM me a request.
