It's a Tamiya M113 in service with Canadian Forces in the UN. I think it turned out alright but I'll be glad to go back to painting things green, brown, and black...

Very good campaign, I enjoyed seeing everybodies variations of this vehicle.

I know what you mean. White is not an appropriate colour for an AFV unless its in the winter! Just a couple of minor comments. Canadians don't tend to hang stuff off the side, it just gets torn away or lost. The gun shield is unlikely unless it is an UNPROFOR vehicle in which case the full ACAV seet would have been used. That would also require Diehl tracks and External Fuel Tanks.

Not really sure why I added the sheild, it wasn't on the vehicle I used as a reference. Same with the other gear, the little white box looked so boring without them.

And now back to modern US armor with kitchen sinks in the turret baskets...

Hey Paul
If you have Concord's 'The Balkans on Fire', there are a couple photos (pp 81 and 84) that show an M113 without EFT's, when they first went to Sarajevo. Does have the Diehl's, and earlier, wider (taller?) skirts. No gun shields and lots of folding cots and stowage on top. Also, most of the M113's in the photos have a roll or two of wrapped concertina wire hanging on the sides from the wire cutters (which are missing from your model, Webfoots ). I agree that white is a challenging colour to do properly, that's why I like it so much!

Cheers,
Jim

Nice looking bucket, but you have a huge sinkhole in the underside of the commanders hatch that needs to be filled

Good looking model. It's not often we see those white UN vehicles.

I agree with the others that the gunshield needs to go. It isn't even a .50 cal gunshield, it is the type used with a M19 or M60 .30 cal MG. Also, your headlights look white as well. They need some silver paint with clear resin or clear coat over top to look like glass. Also need to paint the gasket on the rear hull for the rear ramp black as well, paint doesn't stick to them well and comes off quickly. Lastly, Tamiya molded the upper troop hatch backwards on all their M113 kits. The chain and rubber locking mechanism should be on the upper portion of the hatch closer to the rear of the vehicle. To rectify this, cut the hatch at the hinges and turn it around 180 degrees. This will place the locking mechanism chain at the top. Hope that makes sense.

Few corrections and it will look great.

Got that somewhere. I have seen the concertina hanging from the wire cutters, but I don't think anyone would hang their rucksack on the side. As far as i know the ACAV sets were all on A2s. Later on in the mission i think.
