Hi lads and lass's,
Just a couple of question about turpentine,
can it safely be used to thin acrylics without side affects?
can you use it for your washes with oils?
and is it good and safe for clening your airbrush?
Keep up the exceptional modeling people, i look at all your pic galleries and find so much inspiration.

Not sure, but I don't think it's a good idea...

I always use oilpaint with turpetine for washes, never had any problems. If you use humbrol or any other enamel paint you should make sure you don't apply a wash too quick, let enamel paint dry for about 10 days before you wash!

Nope...its used for enamels. Acrylics are water based so they need something more compatible. Depending on the brand you use. Universally I have had good results with Windex window cleaner for thinning and for cleaning. For Tamiya Paints though I only use the Tamiya Thinner for thinning and windex for cleanin brushes and airbrush.

You bet it can. No problems here.

You should have no probems with it to clean your airbrush. It is not any where near as harsh as white spirits.
I hope that helps

Be very carefull if using in an oil wash over enamels. You should first seal the enamel paint with an acrylic clear coat like Future floor polish or something similar. the same goes if your doing an acrylic wash over acrylic paint you should first seal the paint with an oil based clear coat. I hope that helps.

Bryan
