James I might be able to help you out with the banana leaves if you don't mind fiddling around with preserving ferns. Actually I submitted an article on Tropical plants targeted mainly for Vietnam dios last week but I don't know when Amorama might publish it.
At any rate, bananas are in Pt. II which I'm still working on. You can also use aluminium foil used for baking as the leaves or go A La Naturale and use fern leaves preserved with a glycerin:water mix of about 1:10. Ferns preserve fairly well and should be okay with 3-5 days soaking. Just make sure the dipped end doesn't rot if it does just cut it off and re-dip. Here's a pic but these were some of my earlier bananas which could do with more leaves.

Very well done the plants on the first dio are excellent and the artillery dio is very welll done also keep em commin.

The patrol dio is pretty nicely done. I like the composition.
