Tread?
Was there a question associated with this topic or were you looking for someone else to stump him?

Actually there was. My fault for very bad computer skills. All I was trying to do was actually come up with a question that he doesn't know. I am so impressed with his extensive knowledge about both military history and armour in general that I don't thnk we can

I think Tread's original post was the one to stump Sabot - keeping him guessing what the actual question would be...

Temporary insanity...combination of going to work before the kids woke up and getting home after they were in bed, unlikeable battalion XO, and an OD FSB commander that wanted me to come work for him. Funny thing is he left after my first year and the new FSB commander (QM) was more unlikeable than the armor battalion XO.
Luckily, my change-of-command was already scheduled, unfortunately, my replacement was a "yes man" and I spent a few months watching the new Bn Cdr destroy what had been a good company.
...and as referenced in my sig line, I don't know everything. I don't know what I don't know

Rob----correct your insanity. Return to the fold. It is a whole lot more fun killing them than fixin them. Okay, so here is the stump question "what was the largest airborne operation in history?"

Market Garden in Arnhem? Best guess there. Heck, if I went back to armor branch, the career designator folks would stick me into 90A multi-functional logistics assignments only. Nowadays you have to get a career designator of Operations to be able to stay in the line units.

Nope, Wickum either. Sounds like a cross between the fat cop on the Simpsons and a pagan religion. "Officer down! Officer down!"

Ron - Ahh...I don't know about that. Ron looks to be a WWI trench-boy now. That would make him REALLY old!

Tread - I see you are back to your old self. (edited: DOH.... now your not!)
FYI... I will always be a dog. hehe
AND...ok since Rob passed on the Wickum, was that the armored british wheeled vehicle with the lil'ole turret thing? Just a guess. Please spare us our curiosity. I couldn't even fine ONE reference on this on Google. We need a page on the Wickum just so people can find out the details.

The ' Band Vagn' was a mini, two-sectioned, two-tracked APC mainly used by the Royal Dutch Marines acting as UN peacekeepers in the 'Nam. (one of it's main duties was mine clearing).
The ' Wickum' was also in the 'Nam. It was an armoured, self propelled, railroad car. Sometimes it would be added to either a standard train, or an armoured train. Most often you'd see them by themselves, manned by Viet soldiers wearing U.S. Helo helmets.
O.K., I know, I know. Both obscure examples of armoured vehicles, buttttttttttt, you're a hard man to stump Rob! My hat's off to you.
Tread.
P.S. And as far as the "Officer down! Officer down!" stuff. No worries. I just threw you an unfair curve, that's all.

Jim, I believe the " lil ole turret thing" you refer to is the British Coventry Mark 1, equipped with a two-pounder...maybe?
Good guess tho'

Tryin' to remember the Band Vagn's designator, I believe it started out with the letters BV, hence the moniker 'B and V agn'. I think.

Also, Jim, speaking of " lil ole turret things" do you or anyone else know if they make a 1/35th scale US V-100?
Curious.

Tread - Verlinden produced a big old paperweight 1:35 scale V-100 - out of solid resin. When you find them, they retail around $70 dollars normally. Naturally, anything less is a good deal.
