As I have been promising, here are some in progress photos of my Academy Tiger 1. I plan on adding a full crew. Either everyone in a Tiger was only 5'2" tall, or Academy got the dimensions wrong. I think it was a combo of both. I used parts of TWS interior, Tiger Model designs Tiger 1 turret and lLOTS of scratch building. It still needs to get dirtied up a little and needs a few more tweeks. Any comments are welcome.

Jesse, looks fantastic mate! How much is academy and how much have you added? What have you used for extra reference?
Have you though about how you are going to display it? I would hate to cover up all that work, you have to find some way to display the inside. I've though about buying two of these in the past, so that I could have them on a display stand with one all closed up and one partially disassembled.

Hey

I have that Tiger too, very great kit with an awesome interiour.

Yours is coming along nicely too. I'd just make the red a little darker....

I'm going to make a second Tiger from academy, but then I leave the hull and turret roofs off so that you can see the interiour (my first one has the hatches closed)

Keep us posted...I really love this kit

Chad: I have that too in my tiger...the instructions say so

Vinnie: here it costs 30 euros, that's very cheap if you take a look at what the kit offers!

Thanks for the compliments guys! Chad, the jerry cans hold water fo the crew. As for the color scheme, either plain dark yellow, or maybe dark yellow with brown stripes. Haven't decided which yet. I've just finished the interior and I'm now starting on the exterior. Hopefully, that won't be as much work. Vinnie, for referances, I have used just about everything I could get my hands on. The two biggest were Tamiya's CD on the Tiger 1 and Bovington Museum Tiger site. David Byrden's ssite on the Tiger was also VERY helpful. To display the interior, I had two thoughts. 1, I could make a clear casting of the turret top and hull roof so you could still see inside or 2, I could do like Martin said and just leave them off. I made the castings, but they aren't perfectly clear. By the way, I'm not putting the engine in. Academy's is just awful and TWS won't quite fit, so no matter what, I'll leave the rear part of the hull covered. I will post a more in depth article on what I did to the kit when I get it finished.

Wow, it's nice to see a model that covers the turret basket. I just wish I could find an M-60 that did the same, looking great Jesse!

Jesse, looks good. I think the water cans had a white stripe around them to identify them as such. Anybody confirm this? Looks good though. Maybe someday once I fininsh my "other" projects I'll crack mine open. "Q"

Ola Guys

Very nice looking tiger you got there mate.... I have built one years ago but that one didn`t look as good as this one.
Matthew is right the Germans Painted white crosses on the water Jerrycans to show the contents were water and not fuel.

Of course you guys noticed that I forgot the white stripe AFTER I had glued the Jerry cans in. :-) No biggie. I have already taken them out and painted the stripe on. Thanks for the catch. Anything else I need to fix, or can I continue on with the exterior? Thanks for all the great comments.
