How accurate is this kit? I have heard alot of changes need to be made to it. Is this true? It looks like a pretty good kit.

It is still one of the "Holy Grail" Sherman items even though it was recently reissued. I believe there are some accuracy issues, Sherman experts will tell you to use the XYZ resin turret on the ABC Sherman kit to get the most accurate M4A1 75mm Early.

Normally the ones bashing it most loudly are those Sherman experts who don't have one and would snatch one up off the shelf if they saw it.

I believe the other "Holy Grail" items to be the Hunnicutt Sherman book and the MMiR Modelers Guide to the Sherman.

Not affiliated with em just seeing some crazy Ebay prices for this hard to get kit...

"........just seeing some crazy Ebay prices........"

Thx for the heads-up BillyBishop, but, isn't $41.95 at militaryhobbies a "crazy" price too?
Or, am I just 'out-of-the-loop'?

Because, if that's what they're asking for the kit normally, I guess I really didn't miss much.
There are some other kits I'd rather throw the sheckles at, including a few Accurate Armour pieces I've had my eye on........

Tread, that's CDN dollars. They are US$32 although that's about $9 more than last go around

They also got a few in at Discountmodels.com and Missionmodels.com, but they seem to go fast so you may want to order quickly if you want one.

Was just curious and had a small look around....GreatModels has just had a "huge" DML restock. They've got the Sherman reissue listed on sale for $23.95

Now that's the kind of price I'm talkin' about Willis!

Yeah, sorry bout that "Canadian dollar" thing. I think that is about a buck fifty US .

For us Canucks it isn't a "terrible" price. We get dinged for customs and handling plus postage for orders outside Canada usually adds an additional 10 to 20 dollars CND for us...Gotta love our free trade agreement

BTW I think Military Hobbies ships for free if orders are above 40 US or 50 CND.

Yeah, you guys up north really get hit in the pocketbook when it comes to those things.....

But then, 'skinny' on the street is; that Shermie's owns twenty or so of the kits...

If you're talking about the "early" model sherman, I've read that to correctly represent an early m4 it needs early model suspension bogies and direct vision slots in the front hull. At least... I'm no expert with shermans but so I've read.

Hi Mike ...Most of the problems with the kit are in the turret area ..You can still see where they blanked off the loaders hatch from their firefly turret and the back end is a bit wierd being a bit too long ..(hard to explain) but it should finish closer to the antennae pot . Also apparently the whole gun mount is a bit too high and should be brought down a fraction or two. The hull dimensions are close ...maybe a little something around the hatches but I'm not worried about it ..So if you want to build an M4A1 ..go ahead and get this kit the problems are so small that only a freak like me would even know something was wrong .
I have 2 in my stash and might get another as soon as I see it somewhere.

I'm nearly finished 'constructing' (it's an epic!) the DML M4A1, but found that for it's shortcomings, if you build it with photo reference and some idea as to variations, you shouldn't go too far wrong. Biggest problemo is the vagueness of the instructions me reckons. Plus there are variations on how to mount the pioneer tools for one example... maybe depending on the theatre of service?
