Hello,

I have a wooden flak tower that I've built from basswood & balsa. I am just about at the painting stage ( need to build last set of stairs ) & need to know the process of painting the wood. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sam

Here is something I did with balsa : only use a dark brown wash that will seap into the wood a bit. That should give it more a european wood look.
You can try to apply the wash, wipe some off... you'd better experiment on some loose balsa first !

A wash or paint with an isopropyl alcohol base will not warp your model. I have built countless wooden structures and used the above to paint or stain them. Remember NO WATER to thin the paint, use alcohol. Oil paint can be thinned with their thinners, but since I don't use them I cannot comment on their effectiveness.
Give it a try...
