I am doing a diorama set during the African campaign, I wanted a signals crew setup as part of it - basically as a forward radio position in the desert.
The one signal set I could find for the Germans is the
Dragon German Command Centre with Signal Troops
Model # 3826
Are the uniforms in this kit suitable with a desert campaign diorama? if so what would the color palette be on them?
The idea was to set up a dug out behind my flak guns with the comm center covered by a camo net.
Any comments or alternatives?

Will these figures match my diorama theme?

Yes, those uniforms can be appropriate for the diorama. Paint them afrikakorps braun.

I don't necessarily agree with Harrison.
This is the figure set you are referring to:
I don't believe you can simply "Paint them afrikakorps braun" . Have a look at the Dragon Afrika Corps Infantry set:
There are differences in the German European and Tropical uniforms. Fortunately these can easily be fixed by making use of the correct reference material. Check out Mundry 1939-1945. It's in Polish, but the pictures are what you really need, and those speak 1000 words. Here's the
DAK Link and an example:
Here's a European uniform ( Link to item :
Unfortunately I can't help you with a colour palette or any alternatives.

I think Rudi has got the point. There was huge difference in desert uniforms that by time tried to be adjusted to the difficult conditions of the area. The example pictures he supplied u speak for their own .

Yah that was my concern, I didn't think that the uniform style looked appropriate, but was not sure.
Any suggestions on a signals model set that I could incorporate into this theme?
The only other ones I have seen are
(DML6053) German Signal Troops by Dragon, which
and
(TAM35074) Tent Set by Tamiya
both appear to be the right uniform look, but I don't really like either kit.
If I had to choose I would probably go with the Tam35074, not sure if the tent would be of any value to the Dio though.
one last question, would this command post, work?
(ITA417) Command Post by Italeri
The plan would be to dig it in a bit, to keep the profile down. I would put the signals in there.

Why not use the comms gear with the Tristar DAK figure set? .. If you aren't familiar with the Tristar figures, check this out...Jim
