I was watching an interesting documentary on PBS' FRONTLINE last week about US soldiers in Iraq. One thing I noticed was that their HUMVEES had large signs on their backs written in bold Arabic letters. Since I don't know a word of Arabic, I can only guess what they say. My guess is, it is something like 'Stay back 200 feet or we may shoot you full of holes', but I'd really like to know for sure what it says. Who out there knows what these signs say?

You basically have it. It is something like that. It roughly translates to, "Keep back 50 feet, or you will be fired upon."

Would the sign advise them in imperial measurements or metric?
I'm just imagining a short sighted Iraqi wandering past thinking "I wonder what that sign reads..." and getting suddenly full of holes!

I-m sure it's in meters...I think only the US and the old Great Britain/colonies use feet and miles (imperial measurements)

A bit
, but has anyone applied this sign to an OIF HMMV kit yet?
I have seen photos of, what I think are, T-72s being used by the new Iraqi army and they have the Combat Identification Panels on the turret. That would make for a great kit modification, don't ya think?
