What is the best sand color for an M1A2? Or should just about any light sand color work? The Trumpeter box shows a Tamiya XF-59 Desert Yelow with OD Green Camouflage. I do not remember seeing a lot of M1A2's in this scheme in pictures, just Sand... I have two bottles of Armor Sand FS 30277: is this a good color for the M1A2? It looks OK to me...

Tamiya makes a spray TS46 I believe. It is a very good color.

Testors Model Master has US Army/Marines Sand (#2136) that I use. Check it out.

I used Testor's Model Master 'Modern Desert Sand', #1963 on an Abrams I am building. I thought the color was a little light when I first sprayed it on. But, I've tested it in on another sheet of plastic with some dullcoat and a little weathering, and I think it's gonna look pretty good.

An out of the bottle match for modern CARC sand is Testors Model Master Sand FS #33531, not Army/Marine Gulf Sand. It is too dark. The Sand matches perfectly to vehicles I have served on stateside and in Iraq.

If you want a different approach, I usually use the Polly Scale Gulf War Sand. Easy water clean up. Just a thought.

Testors has a couple different armor sand, I know the 1704 is wrong, cause that is what my LHS sold me telling me it was right when it wasn't. the other number on it is 30277, you need to get the other one, like I do.

The other one everybody says after you weather it, it is just about as close as you can get.

I think it is different. The only # on the bottle is the FS #, 33531.
