Hi guys
im just about to repaint my King Tiger, but i have some Q, i know you guys will be able to solve my problems here
1. if u repaint the model, do u use thinner to take off the paint ? or you just spray it with premier again ? or you have any other solutions?

2. im thinking to make it a little bit snowy. and im just wondering do still use the weathering tech? if yes what colour will u use ? i still want to give the camoflage pattern appear.

3. how to make the snow looks dirty ,not purely white, what colours will u use

thanks for you help

Rick,
1...I have never done it ..oven cleaner will strip off your paint..maybe others can fill you in more!
2...I myself would still weather as normal..its only a coat of snow. unless the vehicle is factory fresh..snow wouldnt hide much.

3..After all is said and done I would give it a light spray with a buff or toned down umber to dirty it up. I would be real carefull here as it could change the whole look of snow to mud.

Rick I use Selleys oven cleaner to strip old paint. Spray and leave overnight. Wash gently in a bowl of luke warm water. Some parts will come off but the bowl will catch them. Scrub gently with a soft toothbrush if need be.

Let the model dry out completely and then start again. Johns comments on painting are the way I too would do it.

If you have access to a product called "Formula 409" it's a general purpose kitchen cleaner, it's much easier on your lungs and you needn't own a Haz Mat suit to use it. Just pour the liquid into a plastic tub, toss in the model and let soak for about two or three days. Take out the model, and with a tooth brush lightly scrub the surface and the paint will come off. This will even work on ten year old paint jobs.

try it you'll love it!

I've used Pinesol for years. Pour into a container, add the model parts and let set overnight. Paint will come off very easily. But do cover it up or the "Pine Smell" will perminate everything. Be sure and test it on a small part. It is used full sterngth so be sure to wear rubber gloves as you should with any chemical.

I've used Westley's Bleach White. It's for cleaning tires (White Letters/White walls). It does pretty good. I submerse the model entiurely and let it set for a couple of days, then brush the excess paint off with a toothbrush.

for the snow, be carefull, like john said, you dont want it to turn into mud either. In canada, the only time there is that brownish is on buisy streets, or else it is rare.

so if your dio has a thick layer of snow, it wouldnt be necesary, but in spring and autaumn or even in the winter when snow if melting it would be a good choice.

for this you migth want to spray different tones of brown and black and maybe grey, depending on the soil under

thank you very much for your help guys, i will do it today with the oven cleaner, i just knew it, that oven cleaner could take off the paints

and for the snow.. yeah maybe light tamiya buff will be allright, i'm thingking to give a melting scenario for this, so the camoflage still appear.

once again thks guys
