I've nearly finished my first diorama and have put some pictures on the MSN Group webpage. Firstly I must apoligize for the photo's as I borrowed a friends camera and it wasn't as good as I hoped. Secondly my young son decided he would play with the vehicle (don't you just love kids!) so at the moment it doesn't sit quite right as I need to redo it.
What I'm after is some advice at how I can make them look better or something I've done wrong. At the moment I don't have an airbrush so it's all painted with a brush so I know a few things can be improved. I've tried to put a link in but I'm not sure if I've done it right.

Thanks for your time

Robbo, the pictures make it quite difficult to give any kind of accurate or fair advice. From what I can see, I do like the layout. The mud seems to be pretty good on the pants of the soldiers. What did you use for the snow? In the pictures it looks like it was painted on.
I wish you had some better pics for us to see so we could help you along.
Is that from a digital camera? Prints that were scanned?

The pictures were from a digital camera but by the look of it and the picture quality it was a cheap one. The snow is just plaster that was poured over the ground. The fence was already in place as was the burnt tree, and the barrels were then positioned. More plaster was then added to the barrels and fence. When dried the plaster was painted. Baby powder was then added to give the rough look and for the fresh snow on the vehicle. (a tip of this sight, many thanks.) I'm trying to get a new camera at the moment, with the birth of a little Robbo pending I'm using this angle to sell the idea to my wife.

Just a thought here REM, I know that with my digital camera, I don't get good quality pictures of models unless I have it set on what is called macro mode. This is necessary for all close up pics, which means all pics of your models. I don't know if that camera has that option available, it might not be too obvious.
