Ok dudes and dudets I spoke with Pat Stansel today, and I specifically asked him about a reprint of the sherman book. He said that what I am about to tell you is un-announced, but ok for me to say. A revised edition is almost done, and ready for print. He hopes that it will be ready by the end of the year.
My affiliation with MMiR is as a contrubuting author, I have no finacial interest in the Sherman book.
Hope this answers the buring question.

Great news. I always wondered why the book sort of just stopped. I basically knew the various hull differences between M4, M4A1, A2, A3, A4 but it was the turret variations that I was too sure about (low bustle, high bustle). Hopefully this will finish out the Sherman series and include various turret types and go on to describe the late Shermans used post Korea.

A revised edition
is precisely what I felt was needed and why I chose to let mine go for next to nothing compared to these lofty ebay prices, but I digress.

That's great news John, thanks for the effort on your part. I have the Sherman book and will buy the up date.
Is Pat still a one man operation? He puts out a quality product. I have all of his "special issues" and look forward to future releases.
Thanks again.

Howdy John,
Many thx for the 'special effort' in regards to the MMiR Sherman book. A reprint sounds like a dandy idea.....that is, with some needed updates and corrections.
I have the book as well, and have done a decent amount of research into the venerable Sherman and it's variants and have found that some 'updating' would be a bloody good idea to include in any reprint effort of that reliable book.
In fact, I don't doubt you could 'plumb' the very impressive Shermanaholics here for some update information.
I would also think that the possibility would exist for utilizing this extremely valuable resource (the folks here at Armorama) for the reprint update for the simple inclusion of a mention in the glossary/bibliography/index, etc, etc?....?
just a thought.......

Sir,
As one who has recently bought the original (although it hasn't arrived yet), I will gladly buy a revised edition. Hopefully, it will include a section on the various turrets. But I will probably buy it even if it doesn't, just to support the effort to get more quality references into the marketplace.
Sincerely,
Steven C. Johnson

John (Sticky) first of all, thank you very much for sharing this with us - you have made me a very happy camper indeed ....
I have the original, and unfortunately it is one of those books which is 3/4 finished with suberb detail on the running gear, hulls and different track types. Sadly the part which is missing is he Turret section...This is brilliant news, does MMIR want my credit card details now?...Jim

I hope this is true. I hesitated to buy the first one when it came out because of the missing turret info ... then I regretted my decision when they all seemed to disappear from the shelves and demand high prices on eBay. I'd certainly buy a revised and updated version.

I always assumed it was going to be the part one to a multi part series. I picked mine up when I was semi-interested in the IDF Shermans. I was hoping a second or third series would cover the post war Shermans (as well as the turret).I hope this is true. Funny you should say this. It reminded me that the Squadron/Signal "Sherman in Action" book was labled as "part 1" ... I've been waiting on "part 2" for about 30 years now.

LOL, yeah, now that you mention it, where is the Allied Sherman part 2? Actually, I think that one was done by Steve Zaloga but instead of becoming a Squadron/Signal book, it became one of the Tanks Illustrated series.
I do like their M4 walk around book though.
