I've managed to finish the base splinter camo coat on my S-Tank for the Swedish Steel campaign.
Next on the todo is to paint the rubber on the roadwheels, and then the track.
After that, it's all about the weathering.
Thanks for looking,
Mika

mika, pls tell us how you painted this pattern, Did you make masks using tape. The "S" tank is loaded with all tiny bits of of vehicle equipt which complicates any masking job. Let us know, rgds jim

Hi,
I'm not mika but did a S tank too in this camo pattern. I used Tamiya masking tapes of various width. After spraying the shades, I finished with a small brush to correct the blurred areas and "re-draw" the lines which were not fully straight.
Here is the result :

Mika, go on with your S tank, I really like what it looks. Did you use any of the PE sets from Eduard ?

Jim, although this is not the Swedish "S" tank, it has the Splinter pattern on it. I did this using Silly putty. Paint your lighteset color first, then roll the SP out on a piece of glass, cut your shapes, apply them where needed, shoot your next darkest color paint, apply more silly putty where needed, continue shooting with progressivley darker colors until your darkest color has been laid down and presto-chango, one splinter pattern. Silly puuty can be re-used as well. HTH "Q"

I started by priming / preshading the entire thing black. The next color I put on was the dark green, since that was the base coat for the tank (the lower hull / suspension is not camouflaged).
Next was the splinter. I took strips of Tamiya tape (one width) and then sliced it into irregular polygons which I started laying wherever I wanted the dark green. I followed it up with the light green, repeat tape, brown, repeat tape, and a final coat of nato black.
I made a point of not having too many bits of tape meet over the irregular bits like the commanders hatch since those were so troublesome to mask. The short bits of tape made it easier to handle over the various hooks and nubs that stick up all over the place.
I finished the roadwheels and sprockets last night, tonight I'll finish priming the tracks.

Herky, my kit is the Dragon/DML BMP-2E. My paint scheme is a little off as it should only be a three color, but I didn't like the way three looked so I added an additional green to it. The other kit here is the Swedish "S" tank. One of my favorite. Gino posted a pic of the kit box art already. That is on my to do list as well......amongst the other 100's of projects too. :-) Thanks for your interest. "Q"
