Hello, this another sample of work of my friend Juan Lázaro. You can see it that he uses porexpan ( these material made of balls) and foam for insulation. These material is the core of the building, when hde have the main structur e he cover all with a coat of spackle and sand it. You only need a pencil and a cutter for work with this material. Wood parts are made with balsa and windows details are made from a fan ( abanico in spanish, these thing that latin women uses for make breeze in hot days)
tiles are carved in a diferent material, this is balsa foam
Hi hope that this photos give ideas to you

Looks pretty good to me! Absolutely great actually!!

Some questions about the techniques used:

Were can you buy porexpan? At a 'do-it-yourself" store or is it something from the modelshop?

What do you mean with 'spackle' (a coat of spackle) -it's not in my dictionary - is it some sort of plaster?

I like the painting of the buildings also, what paint did you use? It must be some acrylic paint I guess, if it don't melt the foam. Was it sprayed on or painted?

Keep up this great way to model!

Hey!
This provides some great ideas! I've been wanting to do a building and was looking for away I could use something along these lines so it would not cost so much. I do have some questions, does Juan seal the spackle with something before he paints it and does he use acrylic paints or enamels?

It looks fantastic!

Paul,

Spackle is a material to patch holes in walls or as a means of texture. It is sort of like a plaster and comes in a small tub found at "do it yourself" stores or hardware stores. The foam he's using looks like the type of foam used in packing electronics in boxes...so you can recycle!

Hey Carlos ... Is there something in the water there, where you live? Another master dio builder!! Very imaginative use of materials. The windows and architecture of the building is very realistic. Please keep posting your friendīs work. His buildings, and yours also, are very inspirational.

WOW that is incredible. Your friend is an artist. The architecture is beautifull. The woodwork is awesome.
How did your friend make the bricks above the windows?

Hello all,

This building is painted with acrilics directly over plaster not sealer coat. afther apply a wash of oils: mainly burn sienna. Arch is scribbed with a pencil directly over foam.
About water, maybe but Juan lives in Cadiz more 1000 Km from Barcelona :-)

thanks all for your kindy comments
