Take a look at the Badger 150. It's a good double action airbush that you can probably find for under $100. I picked a pretty good compressor a few years back, though I don't recall the brand. It cost between $75 and $125. I suspect the place you buy the brush will also have compressors (of course you can always build your own, but that WAY out of my knowledge base).

Go down to wal-mart or sears or some thing simular and get a small compressor WITH an air tank. Sear is good a good place to also get the pressure / moisture trap / regulator. If you just get a compressor you will get pulsing in your air supply.

I agree with both previous posts - badger is a pretty solid brand. I have a 175 and its treated me well (as long as I clean it well).
Air compressors - Wallmart.

I own one and it works wonderfully, the tank allows for quiet operation. That is so nice. It has all the guages to control pressure, it has the adaptors etc.

Some of the Lowes stores have a Hitachi 3 gal air compressor on clearance right now. It's like $125 I picked one up even though I have a 8 gallon one with the idea that the Hitachi would be significantly quieter - - it is

I like the idea of the splitter. I have two badgers and a giant compressor my wife bought me. I cant complain about the compressor it's more built for tools but it was a gift and I bought an adapter to scale down to the airbrushes.
