I got my hands on a rather tasty PE set for the Sherman ( the darkside beckons again), and have bought the Academy Sherman M4A2 from my LHS. This has all the usual Academy fun of different wheels to choose from... and two different cupolas too...
my question therefore, if I where to place this Sherman in Europe, late 1944 or early 1945, which wheels should I use. I might want to use this for the VE Day campaign, depicting the liberation of Holland. I know the Canadians had the M10's, howabout the M4A2 and which cupola would be appropriate?
Any info or links are much appreciated.
Thanks
Henk

If it's the 76mm version, I don't think there's any chance of it being used in NWE. They went to the Soviets. Very much doubt if the 75mm version was used either. Most (if not all) of the M4A2s used in NWE were the early version with the early more steeply-sloped glacis.
Prepared to be proved wrong though.

This version of the M4A2 was only used by the US Marines and the Russians. The Commonwealth forces used the early and the mid variants withthe drivers hoods. The Later 47degree glacis versions both 75mm and 76 mm were not used im afraid. Your choices for the 76mm version are strictly Russian and the 75 mm can be Russian or US Marines in the Pacific.

Adding to that, this m4a2 can be portrayed in the Pacific Theater with a change of Turret - High-Bustle, 75mmvilable from Formations (and shortly) from Trakz...
Now, what would happen with changing the running gear to HVSS?...Jim

That would be Soviet again
The Canadians also got some M4A2 (76) HVSS post-war, but were issued A3s for Korea.

Sorry I should have explained, I was thinking Canadian - as I'm half-way thru building the DML one, i've been chasing-up as many reference pics as possibly, and yes, I saw some pics of preserved HVSS' Shermans on one of the sites..Jim

I don't understand how buying a Sherman has anything to do with the darkside since we all know that the darkside represents German bad guys!!

The Dark Side is that side which tries to lure you away from your choosen path. Be they Wing things or Shermans or Panthers or figures...
Be strong and weary, for the Dark Side is cunning and alluring... I just like to live dangerously and build the odd Sherman derived vehicle as a break from German equipment. So far I have always managed to get back from the Abyss...
