This is the first production type with direct vision slots, square air cleaners and three piece transmission cover.
Is this appropriate for a US North Africa campaign tank?

I'm not familiar with this kit, but if it has those features, it should be good for North Africa.

Thanks, I plan on building a very early Sherman using the Tamiya M4 kit with either the TWS M3 bogies I have or the ones from my Grant or Lee.
If you're interested, I can send you a scan of the box top photo. The conversion looks pretty good.
I've always wanted to build the Tamiya M4 but it is more of a mid production M4 than a true early production M4.

Please do.
I think I've seen the box on vendors' tables, but ADV/Azimut prices are usually a litttle steep for me. Still, it would be nice to know what's in the box.

Hi Rob:
An M4 DV hull would be "age appropriate", but all the Tunsia tanks I can recall were M4A1s. I'd check the new Concord North Africa/Italy book.
As far as the fittings go, I have photos of:
M4 with DV, M3 bogies, and one-piece diff hsg
M4A1s with DV, M3 bogies, and one-piece diff hsg
M4A4 with DV, M4 bogies, and three -piece diff hsg
Remember that the combinations weren't interdependent - some factories just started doing stuff before the others did.
