Excellent work Karl. The fading of the camo is briliant.

How comes everybody calls them a Ferdinand, and not Elefant like it is on the box, and directions?

The Elefant is the one with the hull MG, the Ferdinant is the one without. Btw, Soviet soldiers called every German SP gun or tank destroyer Ferdinant (StuG's, Jagdpanzer etc were called "Ferdinants" in a lot of battle reports)
I really like you Ferdinant mate! Great job on the tracks, camouflage and weathering. You should submit it as on-display model! :-)

Then by making a new flat #41 piece you now have a Ferdinand, instead of an Elefant then, just add some big pop rivets to look like the old plate is the only difference then.

The orginal vehicle that went in to battle at Kusk was called a Ferdinand. After the battle the surviving vehicles were returned to Germany fitted with more armor, a machine gun for self defense and a better cupola for the commander. Hitler renamed it the Elefant, but most of the crews still referred to them as Ferdinands. So now you know the story of the dual names.

Awesome build, weathering and paint job. Did you use any PE parts? What about the paints? Are they oilbased, like Humbrol? Is this a Dragon model? I wish Tamiya comes out with something like this, but as far as I can see they focus now on the 1/48 scale.
Sorry to ask so many questions.
Cheers!

Answer to your questions ,no i never used any photo- etch,i used only Tamiya Acrylics, and yes it is the Dragon kit.And as for Tamiya they will never bring out such a lovely kit like this let alone a Ferdinand.am not knocking Tamiya as i do love there kits its just that they have seem to have lost Interest on there 1/35 scale AFVs,and its a shame.cheers Did you use any PE parts? Very nice job there mate! My sister walked into the room and thought it was a photo until she saw the picnic table. Are the the tracks that came with the kit or custon ones? If so, where did you get them?

Thanks Karl for your quick answer. I'll be getting this kit myself too. By the way, what is the kit number/id? There are three available kits from Dragon on Ferdinand but do not know which one is the one you have here.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

The Tracks are from the kit Individual type far better than one piece Vinyl ones. as for your sister give her a pat on the back for me,good girl :-) Are the the tracks that came with the kit or custon ones

The kit number is 6133 for the Ferdinand and 6126 for the Elephant,if you go with the Elephant you will have to apply zimmerite to the bottom hull,as that makes it a bit more tricky.cheers By the way, what is the kit number/id?
