okay, this question has been dealt with a lot, and iam aware of it but!
i found some resin for 1 buck the for 18mm wich is very good, it also looks very good
now how do i do waves with resin?

Crumpled aluminum foil pressed into the final layer makes a nice rippling wave. For taller waves (whitecaps, like rough seas) consider sculpting them with putty and painting them as resin would be near impossible to build up in a manner consistent with heavy seas.

he's right about the foil but you might want to put some over your ground work too ( if any and using celuclay
as the celuclay tends to drink the resin )
