What is the best way to paint binoculars for 1:35 german WWII soldiers ??

I always spray matt black and then very lightly dust with graphite. When dry I place a single drop of clear gloss on each end to represent the lens

Flat black, and then try drilling out the lens with a pin vise and add a little clear gloss or white glue for the glass.
