Nice photos, but the shots from the rear clearly identify it as an M48A1 (lack of rear grills). The M48A2's engine deck is really bulged upwards and this one is flat.
BTW, I drive by an M48A2 on my way to work every day in case you need photos of one.

I commanded one of those my senior year at VMI !!!!!!!!!!! They were a super-bitch to start up too. But in many cases spectacular when they did crank. Can you say "DRAGONTAIL"? Anyone make an aftermarket replacement deck for one of these, I would absoluely LOVE to backdate a Tamiya M48a3.

CMD does an M48 early gasser conversion if that is what you're looking for.

I commanded "The Jack" at VMI when I was a First, and was platoon sergeant as well. Spent a lot of afternoons when I didn't have class with SSG Lieben and SFC Uhlig helping to turn wrenches.
I made a model of my M-48 by using a Monogram M-48, with the back deck and rear of a Testor's M-47. It came out pretty well. Somewhere in my storage in the States I have her and a number of pics of those beasts. Unless the ex trashed them.
A bad day tanking at VMI was better than the best day in class!
