Well since i was reading through the dream diorama posts, im going to build me a dream diorama. this will have abour 30 figures and 5 Hetzers. This all came to me in my dream i had last night. Now time to put it into action. As we speak im sketching the basic lay out. It will be about 6ft by 4ft depicting Operation Autumn Mist. Ill make this thread my HQ where ill be posting my updates. Also this thread will have alot of techniques so dont expect this page to go down with only 2 pages icon_lol.gif.

Ive realized that 6 by 4 is way to big, when i pulled out the measuring tape. So i think im going to kick it down 2 by 1 1/2 :-)

you should really have all the stuff ur gonna use first before you decide on a base size...then you can arrange the vehicles and figures for compostion and etc. if you estimate you may have a diorama that is too cramped or too big.

That what i did. I got a rough idea. I measured my Hetzer and then looked on how many time it went into the diorama i works fine, hell i might even ad 4 hetzers!

9 Hetzers and 30 figs?????
For a not too cramped diorama the base should be the size of a normal dining table.
I wonder how you're ever planning on storing that one?
In my opinion, first step should have been:
A- What scale am I building my dream in??
:-) :-)
Anyway, sounds interesting, keep us updated.

Hey Max, I'm a sucker for big dios a snapshot in time that tells 100 stories within the build, the busier the better. Currently I'm working on something that scales out to 4' x 7' than changed that to 2 - 3x3 pieces that could be seperated for storage. Now for logistic reasons [ wife ] its down to one 3x3 board. You might want to try stretching the build out as in 2' x 5' or 4' plenty of length to incorporate alot of vechs. & figs. yet wall mountable. This is the direction I'll be headed in future builds for space reasons. Also its in the house and visible. I don't want to build something then have to store it out of sight in the garage or shed with the fondu pot and the never used but had to have exercise equipment [ wife ]. Your dream sounds great , build it , its what keeps us rowdy modelers off the streets and out of the Gin Mills. - Cheyenne

When I was in middle school, my math teacher spoke of some "new math" and I never understood it. If I had then maybe I would understand how 5 Hetzers transforms into 9. However many Hetzers you model, I wish you lots of luck. This will be a huge project, I wish I had the time/space to take on something like this.

I think a better question is what scale are you dreaming in! :-)
