Hi Gang,
Yesterday I've tried to complete the tracks of the DML Hetzer early version....Yes, tried!!
Where I normally have no problems whatsoever with the DML track-links, on this particular kit everything went wrong....
Since the rest of the kit came out very nice, ( I've tried 4 "new" techniques on it...), I'm very disappointed with the resulsts on the tracks...
So now for the big question:
Is there somebody out there, who can help me with a set of vinyl tracks?....
I know it's gonna be difficult to reproduce the sag with the rubberband trcks, but that's always better than no tracks at all!!!!
Thanks for your time,
John.

Have you considered ModelKasten or Fruilmodel replacements?

Hi mate,
I do have some rubber tracks for you here somewhere, they come from the italeri pzkfw 38(t) kit....not sure if the hetzer used the same tracsk though. If you can use them, you can have them!
let me know

SOrry to say ..Hetzer and 38T tracks are not the same. Im sure you dont want to spend the money on a set of aftermarket tracks so maybe someone has a set of the DML Indy tracks they wouldnt mind sending you. But I have to say the Fruil tracks are well worth the money..they will bring your model up to the next level imho.
Cheers,
Bryan

John, I feel your pain, As we discussed before I was looking for something different from the dml tracks for my hetzer. Although the road wheels, drive sprockets and idlers look like they would match a pzkf 38t or even a marder 3 they dont. It seems the hetzer stuff is a little bit wider to me. I went ahead with the dml tracks and have both bottom runs done just have to finish the top halves. Could you elaborate as to what the trouble was you had with the tracks? Cheers Kevin

Hi Gang....
Every time I try to bend the tracks round the idler and sprocket, they fall apart!
So the only thing I can do in my opinion, is to build and glue the tracks link by link on the model....
Problem then is the painting procedure, since I can't remove them anymore from the model.....
I'm starting to get desperate on this model, it's such a nice build, came out nice, and now those tracks seem to ruin it all....
Cheers, John.

John, it took some work for me to get them to bend around the drive sprockets too. The tracks just dont want to sit on the teeth. Once i got them into place it worked like all other dml tracks. I wish you luck and all i can say is keep trying. Cheers Kevin

Mate, here is what i do with maquette track links (they usuaaly fit badly)
spray paint them in black (or gunmetal), than glue them link by link , let dry and than weather them directly on the tank, black base colour will look decent enuff if washed, rusted and drybrushed, ofc, some mud and grass will make them even better. GL!

I recently finished the command version Hetzer from DML. I had some problems as well. What I did was to just do a few small sections at a time, then go back and join all the sections together. For the drive sprocket and return, I first did 5-6 sections, let it dry for a half hour or so, then mold it around the wheel. Once it dried, I peeled them off and painted. It took some time but it turned out ok. Good luck.
ps-your drying time may vary depending on the glue you use-I use the testors in the black bottle.
