I found this plant which is interesting for 1/35th scale pine trees.
Heather (summer flowering) Calluna vulgaris - (var.)Cream Steving.
The tree trunk in the pic is just a stick I found and drilled holes for the branches. The branches are cuttings from the heather.
Note: from my trips to the nursery I found alot of varietys of heather. Some have large spiky needles and dont look good.. The correct variety have buds that resemble a douglas fir and some resemble a scotch pine. I found about 10 different varietys of the good kind but some of them have a yellow to orange tint which would have to be painted or stained.
As there are so many varietys I'm hesitant to recommend a single one.. probably best to shop for yourself to find the best one for you..
I paid $1.99 for a 4" pot of this heather. This is a woody perennial so if planted it will grow as a shrub.
Thanks Chris

I think u have a good founding There Chris. It looks fine , i dont know how preserving would go with this one with the standard methods, but it surely look like a nice thing to add to dios. And since u say u have found many kinds, experimentation would probably bring some other constructions also !!!
Its good that ur etrying many solutions on the plant field , that will work out in many occassions . Keep it growing !!!

Nice tree, great scale replication.
Is it a demo diorama or is this going to be a full on diorama as is?

That makes for a good looking tree, but what happens when it dies? Do you have to worry about it browning?

Thanks all for the input.. Slodder- this vingette is done.. thrown together with old stuff just to give some scale to the heather branches.. Parks - This is a live plant so any cuttings you make will be subject to browning, drying out eventually. I preserved these boughs in a flower drying kit,, but cant vouch for how long, since i have just completed them.
Some type of preservation will be necessary for long term use.. im sure more members have ways that they preserve live plants for dio uses..
Thanks chris
