I'm currently doing Dragon's Tiger 1 initial version 3-in-1kit and have a question regarding the interior color. I've gone to several sites and read through a couple of books but can't seem to come up with a color that everyone agrees on. Some say it should be a buff (off-white) color, others say white. I'm planning on doing the Leningrad version if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for any info you guys can provide.

Elfenbein
In my mind this would be an ivory colour.

I agree with Frank. Presuming that you will weather the inside, any variety of off-white would look fine, and this included the inside of the hatches, at least in so far as they came out of the factories.

If only someone had hurried up and invented colour photography a bit quicker.

Oh, it was there. Just super expensive at the time. What's funny now is that you have to pay extra to get B/W film developed :-)

The German name for their interior color was "Elfenbein" and not "Weiss". This makes sense as the color was a pale fleshy-white, or ivory, color. This would make the interior bright enough without producing any glare as stark white would. I find Polly Scale ( a railroad color) CSK Tan #414222 to be just about right (maybe with a touch of white if you prefer).

I'm going to try mixing Tamiya Buff with a little white and see how that comes out.

Testors Panzer Interior Buff (#4805) is what you are looking for. The fighting compartment should be buff, while the lower part of the hull should be primer red.

The fighting compartment (turret area and upper areas of driver/radio operator locations) I use the Testors Panzer interior. The lower part of hull and all those real nice engine compartment detail parts should be the primer red.
