Hello everyone! After building all my dream cars I decided to switch over to Armor Modeling. Which has proven to be fun. So far I have built a US Army MIAIHA without the mine roller,a Mercedes Unimog, Italeri HMMWV's (I know way to much about Humvee's, LOL) and two 5-ton modern US Army trucks. One of these I just scratchbuilt into my own version of a Vietnam guntruck. (Thanks to Guntrucks.com for all the inspiration!)

Anyways, the big question I have is about rivets and bolts. When I scratchbuilt my guntruck I used sheet styrene for the armor. It now looks a little unrealistic to me without the rivets.

What would be a good way to go about adding rivets to armor plating?

Also, are there any aftermarket kits for 1/35 scale HMMWV's? Specifically any with the tube rollbars?

And, does anybody know any good aftermarket lights? If you have seen the new movie Reign of Fire, they use those old military vehicles. They all have extra lights attached to the roof. I would like to make a model of the M1 Abrams and HMMWV from this movie but have no idea how to make the lights.

Thanks for your help.

You can make those rivets by using elmers glue and a pin or something
even thinner easy clean up any mistake you might make .

welcome......
in response to your Headlights Problem... May be that would be the perfect subject to start Casting your own MOLDS... using RTV molding agent and Resin... sold at your Hobby center hopefully ! room temperature curing RTV ( silicone ) isn't hard to work with and the molds are reusable ... so you could use one of your BEST headLights and Cast it as Required and you have.... Instant Headlights in Resine quality and... you can perfect your skills at molding...on an Easy subject... for starters... hope to see some of your creations in the Gallery some day... cheers !
