Hi all

I just finished my German Leopard 2A5. I just wonder what you all think about it....
You can find it on my webpage just clic in the first screen on "klik hier om de site binnen te gaan". Then choose "modern" in the top bar. The rest should go easy. (I still haven't made an english version of my site )

hi there,...nice weathering. how did you do the mud cake..strata shows from wet dried to wet mud..as if the tank just got out of the mud field. i have an L2A5 done but needs weathering. i like to try this for a change. thanks many.

Hi Roel,
Sorry, but the curse of advancing age prevented me from seeing much. The images were rather dark and my eye sight isn't what it once was. Looks like a nice job, but honestly my eyes couldn't make out much detail.

Very nice build sir!! I would concur with the comments about the mud ... very nice weathering indeed.

I recently achieved the wet mud effect over dry using pigments. I mixed up the light colour and applied it in a slury of isopropyl alcohol. I then darkened the colour by adding raw umber pigment and then added Humbrol gloss varnish and a little white spirit; this mix was then sparingly applied to represent partially dried mud on the running gear and hull. I'm thinking of using Future for the wet mud next time because the Humbrol gloss made the mix a little too goey.

How did you do your wet and dry mud?

Cheers - Dan

thanks piper dan..i'll try that. the goey stuff..will it harden on or it will stay that way? i might end up with a messy tank while taking it to an exhibit or modellers meetings. thanks man.

Hey guys

Thanks for your replies!!! I'm most happy thought my topic was forgotten But really I'm glad with al the comment.

How I weathered my tank will be explained here.
The mud on the tracks and roadweels was done buy putting wood glue on them and pouring a little real sand on the glue.
The turret was done with chalk and a paint brush.
Then the hull the lighter dry colour that looks like really dry mud was done with an airbrush. The colour is from humbrol light earth 119.
Then the dark mud colour was done by mixing revell tar black matt 6 and revell leather brown matt 85. Also airbrushed on the modell.
Then the wet effect is done buy brushing gloss paint finish on the places that have to look wet.

It is a really simple method but it works.
Sorry I don't have an english version of my site but I'm working on it

Greetz Roel, I thought it looked pretty good, I just wished the photos were a little liter so I could see a little better, now sense I can't read German, your tips never helped me a bit, but I know you know how to fix both of them problems.
