Ok well I will be getting a Revell 1:48 Apache shortly, and as I am quite new to the hole model building scene, I've got a few questions. From what I've read, I'll be using Testors US army Helo drab to paint the chopper. But I guess I need or should have an undercoat...So do I use a bright or dark one ? Any specific that would help with the job? Also, do I paint the undercoat before or after assembling the chopper?

Thanks in advance

havnt built many helicopters, but thats one i did build. if i were you i would get the props on at last. mask the windows and whatever else needs masking. prime, and preshade then give it a few thin coats of paint going from lighter to darker

Great people rammy. i wrote the wrong postal code, they managed to fix the error, and within 2 weeks i had my package. using c.o.d cost me 6 dollars, but i still saved a lot of money comapred to if i would have got it at my lhs. it also takes a while for a lhs to get a hold on an item.

they answered all my email, and made my first tiem ordering of the net a good experience. theyve got good prices and great customer service, check them out

Hmm, I'll have a look at them...Two more questions came up today also...Any specific brand of primer I should use? Use selection so I'm a bit lost, also what is pre-shade?

Pre-shade, is quite simple.

Paint your whole model black (without the windows ofcourse) and spray only the surfaces, NOT the edges!

And then spray lightly over the edges.
You'll see some dept in your model.
The black will come out a bit.

hey rammy, as for the primer, walmart holds some testors for 3 bucks the can and it gives good results with a few LIGHT SPRAYS! sont try to cover it all in one shot.

as for preshading, i prime and then spray my panel lines and details black. if i go to what hilbert says, the contrast isnt as big, so it depends on the results wanted.

Ok so let me get this one straight :

-Buy and build my model
-Tape guard my windows, few sprays prime using testors 3$(gray primer spray, is its name ? ) walmart prime
-Paint Black for preshade
-Paint with Us Army Helo drab for final touch
