For what it's worth...emailed Zvezda about replacing the lower hull for my T-72 (sheared wheel pegs). Slipped in a question about when Zvezda is going to produce a T-90, answer was, "T-90 will come out in 2006." Wasn't sure if this was news or not but it is good to hear they are looking to do one!

They've announced it, but this is the first time a "date" has been confirmed. I would have assumed it was on the way this year.

I've heard some scuttlebutt about a Zvezda T90 as well. If it's done right, it will certainly be a welcome change from the Tamiya T72M1 / AEF resin franken-models we've been stuck with until now. I wonder if it would be a basic T90, or a T90S, like India bought?

Hi

I thought I read late 05 ... either way, I sure hope it isn't one of those .."aftermarket required" kits ...

I hate to say it, but after the Zvezda release of the BTR-80A, I think it will be the old DML T-72M2 (T-72B) with some additional parts to kinda make it look like a T-90. I do not have high expectations and I really hope to be wrong.

...but...

That's been my fear/expectation that the kit will be the T-72 with retooled plastic parts based on the Kirin T-90 conversion. I don't hate the DML T-72 as some modelers do. I'm not an accuracy nut as far as modern Russian armor goes and think it looks close enough to suit myself. I just wish the upper hull would fit with the top run of tracks installed.
