This is my first time at having ago at the dredded zimmerit.iv only done the Tiger mantle so far.i used squadron green putty.couse i only have a zimmerit stamp for flat surfaces , i came up with the idea of using the cap off the putty tube and somthing i found to do the zimm pattern
here are the pics.

hope i do better on the turret and hull.

Looks great!
I have a question. Is there a large difference between the green putty and the white putty?

Hey Karl,
As one who has a case of terminal zimm-a-phobia, my opinion is you've done a great job. If the rest of the kit comes out as well you'll have plenty to be proud of.

Zimm pattern looks pretty good. The roller system is easier than stamps. My first zimmerit ever was a Bandai 48thTiger 1 and I used a ridged cap as well. Yes there is a difference btwn green and white. The white is a finer grain, better for small seams and such.

Does the green one dry take a while to dry or is it like the white one. Like you put it on and its dry

Well call me brane-ded (sic). Used the cap off the tube as a Zimm roller????? Why didn't I think of that? I've searching some all sorts of brass gears and never thought of the cap.
I just finished using the Tamiya PE zimm blades with Tamiya putty and bondo and I had very poor results compared to your mantlet.
I just bought some green putty and plan to try that with the Tamiya blades.

I think it looks great Karl. Please post more photos as you progress.

I really like the left side of the photos and the bottom. I can't tell well enough on the right side.
The cap idea is spot on. My only concern is when you get to an 'inside' corner and the cap doesn't 'fit' well, what then???

Don't forget, the putty can be removed if you don't like result. With the work time so small you won't ever have to take off much.

I say - Plan Ahead and keep on going.
