I just read in a special Ops book that there being used differently than what they were made to do. They say they are being used as ground support for ground troops. If they are how many would go out on missions and what type of missions would it take part in.

What type of armour or softskins would they support. Or are they used just in general for all missions.

They are being used for convoy escort, general patrol and observation duties. This is due to a coaxial .50 cal that is also slaved to the FLIR and optics of the Avaneger system. Pretty effective.

VSHORAD units are struggling for a mission. Don't be surprised if you see Avengers re-armed with 2.75 rockets or Hellfires in the next decade.

Interesting, but wouldn't it be better/more effective to re-arm Avengers with Javelins? I'm just throwing that out there for discussion.

I don't think so. Javelin is more a man-portable system, with a 2-3km max range. The avenger system is vehicle mounted and is therefore capable of carrying heavier, longer ranged weapons, such as hellfire or FOG-M.
