So I decided to take a serious dive in photoetch products, but had it narrowed down to two models, the
M1A1 Abrams and Humvee. I've got twelve of the M1's (6/6 Tam and Dragon) and eleven Humvees (6/5 Tamiya and Academy).
I got the following sets for each Tank. Some sets were marked for Tamiya only, but I figured the scale measurements of each wouldn't be off so much.
These are all Eduard stuff.
TP013-Various screens
333-Exterior set
590-Exhaust cover
594-IFF Panels
598-Bustle Rack Extension
Tamiya Hummer M1025/26
629-Int / Ext Set
778 / 785-Iraq Armor plate Sets
M1046 Model
655-TOW set
Academy M1025
TP041-IFF Panels
579-Int Set
580-Ext set
581-Armored Doors
Academy 998
780-Armor Plate Iraq-Designed for Italeri kit.
Hummer Avenger-Ordered by accident...
497-Doors and Screens
By the way, I don't have this kit, so if you have one or two your willing to part with, I'll buy it.
Am I missing anything else? I figured I couldn't build one with AM parts, and have the others displayed looking different.
I have this bad feeling I'm gonna hate P-etch parts after this. This doesn't include the other 150 or so etch sets still in boxes for various other kits. Have I gone too far? Oh, the humanity...

Um - not to be a smart-arse or anything - why don't you just build one Abrams and one HMMWV with minimal extra stuff and a whole lot of what you bring to the table?
In my modeling experience, modelers savvy enough to identify all the aftermarket gear suitable for a particular model are usually skilled enough to do a better construction job without it...
Just my opinion...

I've built quite a number of kits in the past, with just the "minimal" as you call it, using plastic rods, little bits and caboodles from craft stores and such, and scavenging othe kits...
BUT after all these years of doing such, I've been wanting to go all out, and I figured now is a better time than never. Call it inspiring, when I see the works of others here , and in magazines, using all these AM parts. I've just collected mine in boxes, and probably have no more than three build ups with etch or resin parts on them.
Now that I have the time and resources, I just hope I don't go stir crazy.

Well then - my vote goes to the HMMWV. I think adding the photoetch and aftermarket parts successfully to the HMMWV would be fun.

Humvees will be the first in line for start up, just need those Avengers. Anyone, anyone?
I believe Italeri made one, but does anyone have feedback on that particular kit?
All the help in the world is appreciated.

You're missing your mind. :-)
I know how you feel. I have been working on ONE model for the past six months or so using all I can on it, plus a fiar amount of my own scratchbuilding.
So, will you have a theme with all of this? OIF? Desert Storm? KFOR?...
I have done a fair bit of research on OIF1 recently and plenty of guys here know quite abit too, and a few have served there as well. You should be able to tap into quite abit of knowledge as you go through your builds.

Model building I love, scratchbuilding I hate. I don't percieve my mods will be 100% accurate, but I hope to come close without being anal! Hahaha!
As far as losing my mind, yes I have, but that was back in '98 when I ETS'ed.
I'm going to build some of the M1's to ODS configs, with the APU's in the rear along with the lane marker units. I just located my stash of VP M1 interior sets. These were cool sets, but made for the Academy kits.
I'm gonna try and mod all five sets to fit either the Tam or Drag kits. Oh the smell of resin dust.
I plan to order some of the Echelon Decals, along with some from Archer, but who carries Echelon Stateside?

I think all the Echelon ones are OIF. You can get these at VLS nowadays. I also think someone else has them. Check their website out. Somewhere on it tells you where to get them in the US.

If you decide to get the ones with the Airliners for nicknames, I helped with that one, so you can ask me anything about that platoon.
