I have decided to take a stab at a diorama again, and will be using a T-72 in it. I finished up building/painting the T-72 the other day, and was looking to see if there is anything else I need to do to it before beginning ground work on the dio.
The T-72 is by Tamiya, with the Blast turret (which is probably the sexiest piece of resin I've ever seen), painted in Russian green. Other than that, the kit was built OOTB. The Tamiya portion went together very well, and the Blast portion was not much more difficult, and added a considerable amount of detail to the model. I painted using Tamiya acrylics, drybrushed with Creative Workshops acrylics, and used an oil wash of black and brown. The rust spots were done with oil paints as well. Dusting was done with Tamiya acrylics.
Any suggestions or comments are welcomed.
There are a couple more pics in my gallery.

Hi Jeff,
That turret looks awesome. I wanted to buy it too but I couldn't afford it at the time so I had to use the Tamiya turret. I really like your tank dude, nice weathering too.
Thanks for sharing!

Wonderfull model... I like the paint job very much. Good work!
The only thing I noticed were smoke dischargers on the right hand side of the turret; they seem a bit oddly oriented... I thought they should face the front not the side of the vehicle?
Mario.

I'm wondering if there is a fitting missing in the 5th picture there in front of the commanders cupola..
I agree that the smoke dischargers should cover the front arc of the tank as well.
The pics with better light really highlight the quality of the build, but the darker pics pring out the weathering.
Nice one.
Mike

Thanks for the comments!!!
Mario - you're right about the smoke dischargers. Hopefully I'll get some model time in tonight and I can rearrange them.
Mike - There was a canister/fire extinguisher looking object that was supposed to go in those two holes, but for the life of me I couldn't get it in there or on there wihtout it looking horrible. I opted not to fill the holes, as the turret is textured and it would definitely show (sounds sort of odd given that there are two big holes there, I know).
