I know that the return roller is missing from the rear bogie sets on each side, but the assemblies were rescued from a scrap build - when I can find a pair of rollers then I'll add them.

Hi all. Probably my last build for Canuck Steel. Tamiya's Universal Carrier converted to a T16, using an article in Military Modelcraft International July2004 as my main reference. All accessory parts are from teh spares box, and the cammo net is surgical gauze.

Nice work! Got some questions though:
What's the difference between a T16 and a normal Carrier?
I see some changes but no major things. What excactly is a T16?
The Allied Stars on the side of the vehicle....Aren't they applied a bit crooked? (lol is that the correct word?)
Other than the stars I really like your carrier. Just wondering what T16 excactly stands for :-)

The T16 had an extended upper body, giving more space. It also had a welded hull instead of rivetted and a double bogie at the rear which gave a better cross-country ride.
Quite a few Canadian vehicles had the stars applied crooked - I guess it just made them different.
T16 was just the model number so far as I know.

I like the .50. Didn't notice that the crew area was extended. Is the storage box inside the right compartment and the rear standard T16 stuff or your own touch?

Alan, both stowage boxes are standard T16, the rear plate is a different shape to the original Universal Carrier with varying tool locations depending on wether that carrier was built in a Canadian or US factory (yep - you guys built these as well!). The rear box was from the Tamiya kit with the strengthening ribs added, and the inside one scratchbuilt.
BTW - the rectangular sockets around the upper edge are because this vehicle could be fitted with wading screens for operations in northern Holland.
