Hi,

I'm trying to search the forums but it does not seem to work. It will only search for the first word I type in the search box. I select a specific forum, ask it to search for all terms in the title only. It will return messages with only the first word I've typed into the search keyword box. I find that this site, missing lynx and tracklink all have very poor search capabilties. Google groups has the best but unfortunately they do not get the kind of traffic that these sites get. Is there a help page on this site that discusses how to search the forums. I posted a similar message on missing lynx and didn't get very satisfactory responses.

Thanks,

Jim

[quote]role up your sleves and start searching page by page........ or make a new post when u get annoyed looking anymore.

Well, that's what I've been doing but this is the 21st century and string searching should be what this technology excels at. If we just had the google groups search capability with the Armorama content, that would be perfect..

I'm not sure what technology is actually necessary to make the search engine work but it would be a big improvement for the site to have it work like google.

Cheers,

Jim

If you want it to work like Google I would try this...

Click search in the upper right of the site. Scan to lower part of the search page. Input your search text into the Google input field and hit submit.

The Power of Google.

Seriously I am thinking with 60,000 pages of Armorama indexed by Google I should probably just do away with the HIGHLY database intensive searches done by our own scripts.

And people wonder why the site is really slow sometimes. :-)

Also with a good solid bunch of 'regulars' if you ask in a thread - I'm sure someone will remember a topic and point you in the right direction.
