I didn't want to insult our friends to the north by having all the US and UK forum groups but nothing for dear old Canada. If you are scratching your head at this point I am speaking of the new sub-groups under ARMOR in this forum. See the main Armor forum page for details.
Would you folks who build various Canadian Armor like a group designation? Or would you prefer to just use the generic groups (Modern, WWII, etc.)
Also if in favor what's a good nifty name? MapleTracks? hehe

Maybe some people would find a Modern Canadian AFV section useful. I only build WWII stuff, so I can't say for sure. We do use stuff that neither the Brits or Americans use, so it would make sense. As far as WWII goes, Canadians generally used the same equipment in combat as the British did, so I don't think there's really a need there. But if you want to make us feel special, do right ahead

Come on guys, we get enough abuse from our politicians. Canada does have a lot of unique stuff, even if the numbers aren't high. (There area total of 114 gun tanks in the Canadian Army). the much maligned LAV III and the LAV 25 are Canadian products. There are about a dozen variants of the AVGP, Bison and Coyote (served in Afghanistan complete with 'I love NY' bumper stickers) in service as well as some unique M113 variants. I would certainly support such a forum.

It would be nice to have an all Canadian section for those of us who are interested. If nothing else we would have a place to exchange links for uniquely Canadian topics such as cam schemes and vehicle markings. It's actually fairly hard to find a lot out there. And being posted to CFB Gagetown I have access to almost every piece of modern equipment we have, short of aircraft. Excluding the Griffons of course. Maybe we can help each other out here. :-)

I'd like to toss in a "yes" to this idea of a Canadian or Commonwealth Armor Forum too. I'd certainly like to broaden my armour modeling horizon and learn more about subjects from both.

I think a Cdn armour group is a great idea....Cdn armour was involved in Italy, Normandy, North-West Europe....Korea....UN peacekeeping missions....NATO....

Perhaps it's the way I use (misuse 
) the site, but I don't use any of the groups.
I look at the latest message page, and follow threads that way. I suppose I must miss some stuff, but I'm too lazy to go poking around the forums page and look at the different sectors. So post lots of CDN armor stuff so I can follow the threads!! :-)

Canadian Armour Group? Yes,please! ( note typical Canadian politeness) we are a small (but loud) niche and a corner to trade news would be helpful. First Topic! I heard that someone was planning resin conversions for the Italeri& Tamiya CMP's trucks&FAT's. Any ideas of who or what and when? I've got some kits stashed just for this eventuality. I got the Eduard PE for the Quad FAT. It says Italeri on the package but most of it is good for the Tamiya kit too. Standardization, just like the real thing. The set looks great by the way. You want a sight name? How about; TOQUES&TRACKS, HOSERS IN ARMOUR, or The ARMOURED TOBOGGAN! How's that for IRONY OF THE NORTH! JOCK

I agree that the Canadian Army had/has many interesting variants of the Sherman chassised vehicles and their current armor has plenty of variety with M113 vehicles and the LAVs.

I think a Canadian section is awesome!!!! We Canadians are always getting the shaft when it comes to historical references or vehicle production and such. We are quiet and proud and very deserving of our own catagory. There is a lot of unique Canadian modelling ( of course the model companies don't know that! ) So I say good job to armourama for thinking of us Canucks, and giving us a place to rant about all the hosers in the world EH!

Yeah, we have a complex about having a puny armed forces!
How are these groups going to affect the use of the forums?
So far I'm not a 'groupie' yet, and I don't notice any differences in accessing messages etc.

Andy,
The "groups" concept is not fully hatched yet but at this point you can click on the Canadian Armor (should I change that to "armour") link on the main Armor Forum to see all the posts that are in this group.
Eventually what I want to be able to have users do is set their preferences for which groups to show and which to not show. So for instance if Braille Scale isn't your cup of tea you can just filter those messages out. This kind of scaling power will really be needed if the forum continues to ramp up (usage wise) the way it has over the last 10 months.
