Hello,
i'm just working on the first model where i use a few pe-parts, scratch build items from brass sheets and an aluminium barrel.
i read about the use of metal primers. is this really necessary to get a homogenous surface? if i skip that won't the paint stick that good?
or is a base coat of normal model paint (enamel / acryl) enough. what do you guys do with your PE-part equipped models?

If your parts are really clean (like the rest of the model should be) I just paint and do not metal prime.
I have used ordinary primer in the past, like the Humbrol #1 primer but only when I have dark green kit plastic along with white evergreen and brass showing on the model. And then only to get a consistant preshade color on the kit.
