Well this is not a big deal, but I feel like I want to build this diorama as professionally as I can. So heres the question. Do you guys start on the figures/AFV's before you start on the base or vice versa? TIA, sorry its such a lame question but like I said...

I'm sure you'll get other responses, but I've done it both ways. Most of the time I at least assemble figs/vehicle(s) first and then build a "dirt box" to get the placement where I want it. You can mark areas of ground cover (tress, etc.) with craft sticks or toothpicks and when everything comes together take pics to use as reference when you do your base. Hope this helps. And don't worry about the question-everybody needs input sometime.

Thanks alot Art, my original plan was to start the AFV's and figs after the groundwork was done. But I wasnt sure if one of my objects would fit in the tight spot i was going to put it. So I will be building my object and making sure it fits in properly. Because if it didnt and I already built up the groundwork, it would screw up the whole diorama.

Harrison, for me its different most everytime. Uusually I plan the size of the base out with just the idea of the vehicles and there size. Then I usually go to work building the vehicles up a little ways(up to the wheels and tracks fitting on them) and start the ground work. I do this so when I do my celluclay I can make the correct tracks. At this stage I look around for figs that will suit my needs. I hope this helps. Cheers Kevin

So far for me its always the figs & vehicles first then the groundwork. Usually I have an approximation of the area required based on drawings/photos/ideas then when the figs, vehicles , bldgs are about 75% done I arrange them out on the floor to see whether I need to vary the base size and modify the groundwork location. Only then do I start with the groundwork. I don't know whether that's professional though.
