What are the current tankers in Iraq wearing fo uniforms. From my days as a gator sailor, i remember, all the abrams, lav and aav crews wearing flight suits or coveralls under their gear. but my tamiya paint guide has em wearing what looks like bdu's.

Depends on what you are depicting. In OIF1 up until Baghdad was secured everybody was wearing the Nomex suits, which look like flight suits. There are two sets of Warrior figures that would be perfect for this. Part of this same time period the men were wearing MOPP suits over top of that. As they neared Baghdad the threat of chemical attack was very low, so at that point the Nomex suits were what they were wearing as noted above. Some had IBA over top or the small flak vest over top.
After Baghdad fell and the 3rd ID patrolled, they switched to their DCUs with either the IBA or the small flak vest over top. The Tamiya kit represents IBA being worn with something underneath which could pass for Nomex suits or DCUs (my opinion, since not much can be seen but the IBA vest and arms).
If you are depicting a tank during OIF2 there seems to be a combination of both Nomex and DCUs being worn. Mostly Nomex suits though. And of course the vests over top.
What part of PA are you from? I lived most of my life in Pgh, but now I am in Oregon. Welcome to Armorama.
I would attach a photo of crew in Nomex suits but the gallery is closed for the moment. Check mine out later when it is back.

If you want to see photos of American tankers in OIF, just go to army.mil/armyimages (official website of the U.S. army). They got an image gallery there that has plenty of photos of tankers.

Hello All,
IMHO, if figures are produced without molded on patches you could paint them either as Marines or Soldiers. Having returned from the sandbox a couple of months ago, I was surprised at how everyone dressed alike. Even the new digital cammies for the Army and the Marines are alike. Now, the challenge will be in getting the digital pattern right.

If you are using the fig in an M1A2, either Nomex or DCU would be correct, but not JSLIST chem suit. There were no M1A2s in the initial invasion with 3ID, and USMC does not use M1A2s. The first M1A2s arrived in counrty with 4ID in late April. We shed JSLIST chem suits in early April.
All of the above options would wear the IBA as well. Also, USMC IBA is not camo pattern, but a dark sand color.
