I searched to see if there were any posts on this guy here, but found none. Maybe I'm blind. Any-hoo, I grabbed one yesterday since I had a nice discount couplon from a local store here. Upon first examination, I was really pleased with what my $27 got me. Haven't been able to give it a good going over as yet, but will shortly. Just thought I'd share with you all. Anything specific you want to know, just fire away and I'll do my best to accomodate you. "Q"

Matthew, the AFV Club Tiger has been notable by its absence. Obviously, all the attention was taken away from it by the DML Initial and it'll happen again when the 'late' comes out...
It's really a touch pitiful the lack of interest generated by it, I for one would like to hear any opinions you have on it. Yu thought about a detailed revew on it along with a 'Build' Feature?..Jim

I mentioned it in March: Hobby Fan/AFV Club info. I also mentioned the lack of buzz about it compared to the Dragon kit a couple of days ago: 1/48th Scale...Has the time come?

In chatting with Jim Rae a bit ago, I mentioned that a Track Link member (Robert Lu?) started a thread concerning the model. I thought it was a serious dig at AFV Club - at first - until I opened up my kit box and followed along with what he was relating. He's seriously taking almost a part-by-part examination of the kit to the board - and it's pretty informative. Kind of stuff you'd used to see on M-L.

HI, Picked this kit up a couple weeks ago and I think it's pretty darn nice myself. Had some reservations about it, what with it seemingly being "over-shadowed" by Dragon's future release of their Tiger I (late), but am glad I got it while the local hobby store had a couple of them in stock at that time.
I did some reading of a review on this kit posted on the PMMS site and find I pretty much agree with their opinions of it. They mentioned the lack of a weld line across the center top of the turret plate for the additional armor thickness here, and a lack of 8 recessed screws in this area as well, both of which can be added without much trouble. Plus the questionable over-engineered, spring-loaded idler wheel set-up. Oh well, no big deal one way or the other on this either. (Not really wild about those "rubber-band" tracks, but I'll worry about that after I get the kit built.)
I've been contempating trying to do some hand-made Zimmerit on this kit. But haven't had near the time to experiment with it. Now I see that the people from Atak have just announced a resin Zimmerit kit for this particular model due out in May, hopefully, plus one for the Dragon Tiger I (P) as well, so I'll probably take the lazy builder's way out and get these both when the become available here in the near future. I think there is some hope that maybe Dragon will include some type of either resin or plastic Zimmerit parts for their Tiger I (late) in the new kit. We can only hope this will be the case.
Like certain models that come out every now and then, this one seems to be regulated to something of a 'sleeper' status, but I think it's well worth getting if you can find one.
Can a person really have too many Tigers? Only if they can't seem to get enough time to build the ones they have already!!!!! Ha, ha!
(Been building some of the new smaller 1/72 kits here lately, as I seem to be able to do one of these in a week's time. This way I'm able to see something of progress in my modeling as of late.)
Take care, Sgirty

Ok guys, sounds like everybody has at least seen something on it. I'm not big on real minute (sp?) details ie bolts weld lines and such. If it looks like a Tiger to me, then its a Tiger. Nothing against those who look deeper, I just don't. From what I see in mine, it is well thought out, crisp detail, and plenty of parts for all. I was think of doing a side by side build with a Tamiya, Dragon and this and let folks make their own decision about things. More of an FYI type build if you will. Of course I also have this planned for the new Academy Sheridan as well, so we'll how this pans out. Thank again for all of your input. I'll see if I can get some pics taken of mine and get them posted as well. "Q"
