This has been one of those really long builds, my wife bought this kit for me in 2001 and I have played around with different color schemes and finally decided on overall German grey. All that is left is the ground work and a final toning of the vehicle to match the ground. By the way this is the old Sovereign resin kit. Always liked the 6 rad, looks like a hot rod. Thanks for looking.

Any comments about anything I missed would help.

Robert

Very beautifully done. I know almost nothing about the 6 rad, but I agree with the hot rod look. Same thing with the Soviet BRDM-1. I think it's the big, long hood.

rbeebe99,

Just one word: WOW!!
It's a great SdKfz 231. Great paintjob! Did the wheels and decals came also with the Sovereign kit?

Robert ...excellent build sir !! Love that worn look ... I'm not that familiar with the Polish campaign ..did they use the white rectangle for air ID?..Now if there was one thing I might point out is the fire extinguisher should be the body color and not red ...but hey it does give a bit of contrast to the grey..

Wow! Great weathering. I like the spare tire cover and how the bolt detail shows through. Did you do that or is it a kit part?

This is a marvellous built! I agree with Robert with the fire extinguisher though! I believe that German (as allied) had their fire extinguishers painted the same colour as the body! I'm not sure if that happened in the Polish campaign though!
Cheers and happy modelling!

Thanks everyone, Richard I just like the contrasting color of the red against the grey, I appreciate the comments though. Paul all the markings are stencils and dry transfers, I honestly can't remember if the kit came with decals. Thanks again fellas I will put up some more pics once I finish the ground work.

Robert

Wow that looks great!

Love the weathering. However one could say that its probably a bit overdone for this point of the war.

However if your like me you build for yourself so it probably doesn't matter.

Cheers

Hi

I must say your 6-rad looks good, nice weathering and paintjob, but the German grey is way too light I think. Looks more like very very thin winter camouflage now.

Still it looks great :-)

Still have to wait a small week before I can start with my 6-rad from Italeri for Andrew Leeth's Spahwagen Abteilung! campaign...
Everytime looking at Roberts well done kit makes me count the hours, minutes and seconds to the start of the campaign. Glue and tools are in starting position allready...

Q: Why is everybody refering to the Polish campaign?
Because of the yellow crosses?
These vehicles were used for police task during the (first half?) war and also during the 1940 Blitzkrieg against The Netherlands, Belgium and France. So, the heavyness of weathering is IMHO not that wrong after a few weeks of battle... (OK, a few days for The Netherlands )

Thanks guys, actually Paul is right this vehicle is not part of the Polish campaign, it represents a leftover used by the police units. I appreciate the constructive comments about the color, it probably is a shade darker than the pictures, but not much, I tend to finish my models a bit lighter, just my preference.

Robert
