Aah you did it again my friend! Details are great....the barbed wire, the figs, the amount of snow.....and your Hetzer doesn't look like a turtle, I told ya already :-)
I'm not sure of the road though.....on the pics I have seen the roads were very very muddy. But, maybe this road froze up
Ah don't listen to me.....having this comment on such a great dio! You've done it again!

That's a beautiful diorama.......I like the idea of a light snow on the ground...or a dusting. GREAT work painting the figures, vehicles, the whole enchilada......you really feel like a part of the scene.

Kevin -
As others have mentioned, the groundwork is fantastic. The snow came out great and gives the impression of a "early, light dusting". You've caught the effect beautifully, even down to having snow on branches but not directly under them near trunks. Maybe a hint of "dusting" on helmets and/or packs, etc.? Hoping the smokers don't get careless so close to the fueling. They really do portray that "trying to warm up" theme wonderfully. You've really nailed this diorama down. Outstanding job and thanks for sharing. I've learned much.

Martin, the early part of the Ardennes offensive was dry in some places with no rain or snow. I have a few pics if you would like to see them. I wanted to portray one of these locations but with some of the figures painted up in the winter white parkas I found i needed some snow. I'm glad you like it and also glad the hetzer doesnt look like the painted turtle :-)
Brian, thanks for the wonderful comments. Glad you like it
Mike, again thanks for the fuel pump stuff. That really made that part of the scene come alive I think. you mentioned in a post in diorama forum about an article. I will see what I can do to make one. Thanks for your kind words. Cheers Kevin

Wow! That's a beatiful dio, Kev. I especially like the scene behind the Sherman, where they are siphoning its fuel off. It's frighteningly realistic.
I was worried about the snow covering that beautiful groundwork but it turned out that you did it so well. There's enough snow to depict a wintery scene while not covering the groundwork. You kept it to a realistic minimum.
Two things though:
1) As what Blade said, you might want to put a little snow on the helmets and the tunics.
2) On the second picture, there are a couple of clear lines on ground devoid of snow, that runs along the length of the road. I'm not sure what are these. Tracks? They're too straight, clean and unrealistic looking as tracks. Or maybe it's another camera guffawoo..
3) Maybe you could also add some American rations and items on the Hetzer vehicles. It would depict what they looted.
Other than those, the diorama is superb! I love it.

Congratulation Kevin.
Groudwork, trees, vehicles and figures are great.
I agree with Mike about the article.

The Hetzer and troops smoking could make a dio in itself. So could the German troops siphoning fuel from the Sherman. Even a German soldier directing the Schwimwagen can be stand alone. To combine them all together into this huge scene is incredible.

Hey Kevin,
Excellent work One thing I noticed though : on the second pic, you seem to have forgotten to paint the belt on the guy who's holding the hose........ it's still white. Or is it an in-progress pic ?
Cheers,
Michel

Alan, I am glad you see what I was going for. I hope the title for the dio will work in its own way with the three little scenes. Thanks for the comments. Michel, that guy standing holding the hose doesnt wear a belt, It is a drwstring parka. If I could take a closer pic you would see that the area where a belt normally went is all bunched up from the drawstring. Thanks for your comments as well. Cheers Kevin

Kevin,
nice diorama you have down there. The setup looks cool and the facial details of the figures also superb. I cant find anymore flaws.
