Martinn:
Congratulations on a well written article. You did a great job, taking readily available kits and materials, and turning them into a fine diorama and tribute to your grandfather!

Martin, beautiful dio, great job!!
Question, why the heck haven't you enlisted and added this to the Armorama's Finest campaign? lol That campaign is just what this is for, honoring those of Armorama who have served in peace or wartime or a relative who has served their country in peace or wartime. Your grandpa definitely fits that category as does this dio, we'd be honored to showcase both in this campaign if you'd like to add your work to it. Just enlist and upload the photo's you have and you're good to go!

Sorry, I thought that campaign was only for those who did served.....not relatives
I also started this project already in December 2004 so I'd have started before the campaign start date I guess (or had your campaign started already in December 2004?)

Nope, this campaign is a very open one. You can use a build that has already been completed, the build doesn't have to be only for you but can be for a relative. The whole reason I started this campaign was not to have a competition but for the members of Armorama who have served or had a relative that served, honored with a build of any kind in any scale. So go join up and post your build pictures in the campaign gallery!

Martin,
Like I said earlier, I think that your approach to this diorama was perfect. The feature was well written and I learned something new! Adding a personal level and shedding light on an obscure apsect of your national history makes it that much better. I hope others consider doing the same in a future project. It brings a smile to my old, crusty, and grumpy heart.
Well done!
