I've just finished my first painting session using Acryl sprayed thru my Badger Crescendo. What a disappointment! No matter what i did, the paint was constantly drying in the gun, and on the tip and needle, clogging the gun. I kept trying to add more thinner ( Testors Acryl thinner) a drop or two at a time, but no help, until the point that the paint was so thin that even with the compressor turned down to about 10 psi i was still getting spiders, and splatters everywhere. Needless to say, coverage was terrible. And it was immense pain to clean, everything was covered in Acryl, except the Wirbelwind, and once it dried, took much scrubbing to remove. Anyone else have similar problems? And did you overcome them? Any help would be appreciated.

Along with Polly Scale and Tamiya, all i use is MM Acryls. I have never had trouble with them. As a matter of fact I rarley use thinner to thin them down. I usually shoot them strait from the bottle. Plus, I only use ALCOHOL to thin my acrylics.
Acrylics do have a tendecy to dry faster than enamels. I use an Aztec 4709 airbrush and no problems.
Im sorry I cant be much of any help. Try using a nothe type of thinner like the alcohol I mentioned.

Sorry to hear about the troubles too Bribo. Like Epi pointed out above, I've never had problems using Acryl. I don't thin it though - that stuff is ready to shoot right out of the bottle. The only thing I probably do (superstitious I guess) is to prime the model with Tamiya acrylic first. I feel it gives the Acryl something to "bite" into - especially over resin parts.

I also like the Acryl gloss colors way more than Tamiya's gloss acrylics too - I'm painting my 48th scale F4D-1 Skyray with them and haven't had a problem yet. One day I might even attempt Acryl on an entire armor model too...

I had read that Acryl could be shot straight also, and i tried that at first. But could not keep it from drying in the brush. Maybe i will try to thin with alcohol, but I'm a believer in using the manufacturers thinner to thin, although I'll use whatever works to clean. I've always used Tamiya acrylics before, and never had a problem, but maybe it was me the other night. I'll give the MM another shot, but definatly on my "scrap" model this time!
