How are you going to reconfigure for Normandy? Based on your question on the other thread you still can't use a US Firefly crew. If you change to a British crew you might as well stick with Market Garden.

Someone in the last post said that US did have the firefly during normandy? I have also seen refrence pictures of US fireflies in normandy. I bought 4 verlinden tankers bailing out, the total was $40. So was the dml tank. Im not planning on giving up any of those sets.

The US didn't even receive their test Fireflies from the Brits for evaluation until 1945. Well near the end of the war they only crewed a few for real live field testing, eventually rejecting the Firefly altogether. The US definitely didn't use them at Normandy.
Remember the US armored doctrine at that time was that tanks like the M4 were to be used to exploit and overwhelm enemy position while tank destroyers like the M10, M18 and M36 were used to engage enemy tanks. A 17pdr Sherman was not something the US was interested at that time even after the British demonstrated much success against German armor.
Sorry Tsunami but I don't think you're going to be able to mate a US crew to a firefly.

Hmm, Since the main think about this tank is the 17pounder gun. Is it possible I could buy and aluminum barrell to change it to a regular sherman? Is there a way I can convert it? I ask this because ive already put about 5 hours into building this sucker. and i dont want to just throw it down.

Well the US also didn't use the M4A4 in either 17pdr or 75mm. The M4A4 was longer because it used a different engine configuration.

Maybe change the setting of your diorama to the last stages of the war. The place might well be a last stand gun emplacement in Germany, crewed by the Volkssturm or HJ (granted, they would more likly be armed with Panzerfaust.) knocking out one of the Fireflies that the Americans used in their field tests?

Hi Keith
Heki is the name of the manufacturer. Don't worry, it had me for a while as well until Kevin (Jackhammer81) set me straight. (Thanks again Kevin )
It appears it mostly the model train suppliers that stock this line.

KFMagee,
Nothing to you personally, but can I request no more posts on my forum about where to buy heki grass? I gave you the link in earlier posts. If anyone cant find it, its www.scenicexpress.com. Youll have to order the heki from phone, the heki number i used was #1575. If any of you have any further questions about heki, please just PM me. Thank you.

Harrison, I have to admit it..that groundwork looks pretty awesome. Everyone is going on and on about how good the grass looks,, and it does, but i also love the bushes..What did you use for those and how did you apply them?

Thanks TankysGal,
I do agree, I really like the grass. The bushes is WS fine leafed foliage. They were applied by stacking them with white glue. They are supposed to be hedgerows but because they arent tall enough, they are still a bush. But by the next update they should be fully grown into a hedgerow!
