Since I rarely do German subjects, and it's even stranger for me to do something with tracks, I have a few questions for the German experts.
I picked up the Italeri RSO with Pak 40 kit for the "Gary's Tank Destroyer" Campaign.
It's going to be a simple out of the box build.
But I do have a simple question, that I can't find an answer to.

Did this see service on the western front ? Or was it just used on the eastern front ?

Dave, My instructions and references imply very strongly this only used in the East, though one (Sqaudron's D-Day to Berlin suggests the RSO with cab was used inthe West.)

There is a picture of an RSO with cab in Concord's "Panzers of the Ardennes Offensive 1944 - 45" in use by an SS unit, possibly the 9th SS (Hohenstauffen).

Hi Dave,
This is one veicle I really like but unfortunately not very much refernece on it. What litle I do have states that only 50 were built in 1944 for testing by Army Group South, but some were given to Army Group Center and Army Group North. So I think it would be acceptable to have them in the west. Although a cool looking vehicle not popular with the crew high profile low speed and almost total lack of armor, makes for a death trap.
Here is the one I did a few years ago, if you have any questions or need anything extra for the kit let me know, I have some left over.

Regards,
Robert

Dave,
I have almost built this one. Watch out for the tracks, they are very stiff and will not set right. You may have to get a set of Fruil tracks to finish this one.

Thanks guys, so I can do it in Europe, not just Russia,
I spent a few hours going over the web, glomming photos.
They all appear to be the yellow color, some with camo.
As for the tracks, I'll live with the kit tracks..... I can find other things to do with $40.00 like buy food...... :-) :-) :-)

I agree the kit tracks are not the kits strong point, but with some tlc they can be made to work. Don't know why the link to my pic is not working, look here under RSO 03
