Heres some shots of my Stug III Ausf G.i have not given it a wash yet just dry brushed, first with humbrol 83 and then with a matt black.also added chip paint effect with a dark grey mixed with a little brown, then shot some dull-cote over it to kill the futures gloss.

Very nice Karl,
Good overall finish so far, what does the marking on the back translate too?

Robert

Very nice worn paint effect. It really makes it look like a metal object.

'Jungs holt fast' translates as ' Hold tight boys' or 'stay put boys'. It refers to the last months of the war, after the Allies crossed into Germany, when many units where supposed to hold at all cost, not giving up an inch of German soil...

Cheers
Henk

Edit: I knew something didn't sound quite right.. I think it should be spelled ' Jungs halt fest'. But as it's German it very much depends on the context, German grammar is a mine field. It would depend on if it is a statement from the 'Jungs' to proclaim that they are holding, or if it is a encouragement to the 'Jungs' to hold. Let's see if a native speaker can explain it clearer.

Your Stug is looking good so far Karl.

I'm quite sure "Jungs holt fast" means "boy's hold on" as in "hold on tight"
It is not in high german(The German spoken today) but in plattdeutsch or niederdeutsch an old low saxon language.

I'm impressed. Very good paint job, but, what scale is it? It looks quite large in relation to the picnic table.
Fantastic weathering job on the table also... L O L . :-) :-)

It is actually 1/72nd scale and the picnic table is a 1/16th scale model just kidding.

Karl, Did the Jungs holt fast decal come with the kit, or is that something from the spares box?

Hi Karl. It looks good and the drybrushing brings out the details well, but the metal look is a little overdone IMO.
I have experimented with this a good bit to get a quick finish and found the best way was to wash first, then dry brush a lighter base colour, followed by slight metal drybrushing on the highest peaks only. Then a filter, or filters, over this again makes it all look natural, but still giving good depth to the detail.
A filter or 2 at this stage, on your vehicle, will help tone this down and make the weathering more realistic.
Its only then I add some chipping. Just a thought.
